At the same time that Maxon released version 8.0 with the new Dynamics Module, imagery involving flags was needed for a new interactive presentation called The Voyage™. The theme of the presentation was traversing a stormy sea. A flag texture representing an old 12th century map was created and applied to a plane using UV mapping. The plane was then converted into a soft body with dynamics and wind applied. A camera was animated moving around the flag which provided an easier solution to faking the flag itself moving past the camera. This seemed to provide more control over the movement of the cloth to allow for readability of the flag(Fig. 5).
